This month the Samaritan Center participated in the annual PIT homeless count. This is a yearly survey that takes place to provide a snapshot of the number of people experiencing homelessness in Ventura County.
Staff and volunteers were able to connect with some of the individuals we serve on a weekly basis to not only participate in the count, but to also hear about one's personal struggles, assess their needs, and offer support and supplies. Staff and volunteers also encountered individuals new to homelessness and/or new to the Samaritan Center.
This event and the data gathered is essential to the Samaritan Center and to other organizations that serve those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
