Meet Maria, Jesus, & Luis! They're the Monthly Client Feature at the Samaritan Center!

We're thrilled to announce that the Samaritan Center has made significant strides in 2025! We have successfully found housing for 9 individuals in March, bringing the total to 12 people assisted so far in 2025! Additionally, we've helped 4 households with rental assistance.

One of the many resources that the Samaritan Center provides is assistance with health support and referrals. In 2025 we provided 2 referrals to rehab programs and this month we had a barber come to the Center to give haircuts! We would like to highlight one individual in particular, Luis, who is an active client at the Samaritan Center. Recently, Luis has been facing numerous health issues and undergoing treatment for visual impairments. Luis has been working with his caseworker, Brittany, to provide transportation to and from appointments, as well as assistance with medication and treatment costs. Most notably, Brittany was able to connect Luis with hotel placements while undergoing treatments. We asked Luis to comment on his experience with the Samaritan Center and he went on to mention, "I am truly happy with the support that the Center has provided me."

So far in 2025 we have supported 5 individuals in successfully finding employment! In February, a job fair was hosted by the Simi Valley Chamber in hopes of connecting individuals with employment opportunities. Caseworkers at the Samaritan Center worked with clients to prepare their resumes, participate in mock interviews, and provide business casual shoes and clothing for interviews. Maria and Jesus, mother and son, were 2 out of the 5 individuals who recently found employment and participated in the job fair. When asked how Maria feels about the Samaritan Center services she mentioned, "I have received so much help and support, more than what I could even ask for or expected. The center and staff  has really taken so much attention to me and my son's needs. It's a beautiful experience with how caring, the attentiveness, respect and patience. The time that has been taken to just listen to us or our needs and everyone at the Center has been so helpful." She went on to share how excited she is for her and her son to be working. Although, Maria and Jesus are currently experiencing homelessness they are hopeful that the beginning of their careers will be a pivotal moment in their journey.

Thank you to Maria, Jesus, and Luis for sharing your experiences about the Samaritan Center!
