Client Story: Jack

Meet Jack! Jack is September's Monthly Client Feature at the Samaritan Center!

Jack heard about the Samaritan Center after connecting with Buddy Nation in Ventura County. Originally from Moorpark, Jack became homeless after moving to Simi Valley from briefly living in Arizona. After meeting with his caseworker, Jessica, Jack mentioned how grateful he was to have access to the shower and laundry facilities. He was also able to receive hot meals, clothing and supplies for him and his service dog, Frodo. The Samaritan Center also happily provides Frodo with dog food and treats. Jack mentioned how deeply he cares for Frodo and does everything in his power to ensure he is well taken care of.

While attending case management Jack's caseworker, Jessica, was able to assist Jack with resume building and interview preparations. Recently, Jack was able to find employment at Spirit Halloween! Jack also mentioned that being able to use the Samaritan Center's mailing address was highly beneficial while navigating employment opportunities. The Samaritan Center was also able to provide Jack a bus pass in order to get around Simi Valley.

Most notably, with the help of Jessica, Jack recently made the Permanent Supportive Housing List and is currently awaiting a match! When asked what has been something he's liked about the Samaritan Center, Jack stated "Everyone is caring from volunteers to staff, and everyone tries to make sure clients get everything they need to be happy and healthy."

We are so excited for Jack and his new job, and we will continue to support his journey in finding housing! Thank you for sharing your story, Jack!
