The Samaritan Center is proud to share the good news:

We have been selected as Nonprofit of the Year by Assemblywoman Christy Smith.

We’re headed to Sacramento on June 5th to celebrate California Nonprofits Day!

EVERY PERSON HAS A STORY

At the Samaritan Center of Simi Valley, we believe that every life matters and that everyone’s story matters.  We also believe that despite what they have endured in the past, a positive future is available to everyone. Our mission is to understand and meet them where they are and provide them with the tools and support they need to change course.

The Samaritan Center is committed to providing the homeless with opportunities and the hope of a better life.

We believe their stories can change forever when given a chance.

Watch our video to see how a local vet, changed his “story” and future with the support of the Samaritan Center.

Volunteer Day- Sponsored by Schneider’s Automotive

Thank you to all the volunteers that helped out on March 9th for Volunteer Day.  And a great big thank you to Schneider’s Automotive Repair for sponsoring the event.

Nearly 70 volunteers joined the Samaritan Center in annual maintenance, including painting, rain gutters, cleaning and the gardening. Schneider’s mechanics checked out volunteer’s cars and fixed 5 automobiles that had been donated to the Sam Center, but were not running. Two clients have already received cars, one gentleman who had been on foot since December and another who will be able to start up his painting business again.

Thank you to Schneiders, Abhi and all the volunteers that came out.

What a gift!

In Memoriam

It is with a sad heart that we share the loss of a dear friend and client of the Samaritan Center Gerald Munyon, who was run over while sleeping in an alley early last Friday.

To add to the tragedy, we had just found him housing the evening before and it should have been his last night on the street. Gerald was a kind hero on the streets, often helping other homeless folks who were more desperate than himself.

One Simi resident remembers that when she fell on hard times, Gerald helped her until she got back on her feet. A good man, who will be truly missed.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

The Samaritan Center is run almost exclusively on Community support and generosity. Your donations of time, money and housing (rooms for rent), allow us to continue our work, change lives, and alter the future of our most needy residents.

Volunteer

Your gifts of time, mentoring, or training is always welcomed and vital to the success of the Center. Volunteer positions range from serving, cooking, doing laundry, business mentoring, help with resumes, financial guidance, food donation pick up, driving individuals to appointments and more.

Donations

Your financial support allows us to provide for the most basic needs of individuals, veterans and families we serve, including housing, and medical care.  Families and children also have school needs that must be met to keep them from falling behind while homeless.
